Abraham and Sarah's miracle never ceases to amaze me and made me realize there is hope for me too. Sarah was 99 years old when she conceived and became pregnant. Then the Lord said, "I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son."... Abraham and Sarah were already old and well advanced in years, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. Genesis 18:10a,11.

In verse 14 of the same chapter, God asks Abraham, Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son. And she did have a son! And she was 99 years old when she conceived! I am a lot younger than that and I am not past the age of childbearing, so is anything to hard for the Lord? No! I can conceive and have a baby too, you know why? Because I was redeemed from the curse of the law and through the blood of Jesus I am under the same promises as Abraham's seed! And if you are a child of God then you are too!

Satan wants us to get discouraged and give up when the prognosis the doctors give us isn't good. But God has another prognosis for us, as His children, our hope is in Him. He is the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were. Romans 4:17b. In the verses that follow we can be encouraged by Abraham's faith. Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be." Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead--since he was about a hundred years old--and that Sarah's womb was also dead. Yet he did not waiver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. Romans 4:18-21.
